A SMALL GUIDE TO BIG PROGRESS

Elapsed time worksheet generator

This elapsed time worksheet generator rotates three question types: find the duration, find the end time, and work backward to the start time. Times have am/pm and exercise-day labels. Questions may cross noon or midnight; durations never exceed three hours.

  1. Read both the time and its Day label before calculating.
  2. The optional open number line provides workspace. Its guide marks have no fixed minute value.
  3. Subtract to find a missing start, or add to find a missing end.

Minute-level reading and number-line reasoning support concepts in 3.MD.A.1. This independent tool is not officially certified.

A few useful answers

Will answers print with the worksheet?

No. Student and teacher PDFs are separate downloads. Print worksheet always prints student pages, even when you are previewing answers.

How do I recreate a worksheet?

Save the seed, tool, count, time step, paper size, and number-line setting. Those settings reproduce the same version 1 set. Preferences are saved only in this browser.

Can a clock face tell am from pm?

No. Read, draw, and match use 12-hour faces without am/pm. Elapsed-time questions state am/pm and the day. 12 am is midnight; 12 pm is noon.

How should I print it?

Use the PDF with matching A4 or Letter paper, portrait orientation, and actual size (100%). For browser printing, disable browser headers and footers. Read the printing guide.
